Quality Management System
The IMID-Biobank has implemented a Quality Management System that allows continuous evaluation of all processes and procedures that take place in the biobank. The biobank activity is carried out under ISO9001 certification.
Quality policy:
The IMID-Biobank is a biobank of reference specialized in the logistics of biomedical research projects, processing, storage and management of biological samples donated by patients with Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases, diseases of great impact in society.
Those responsible for IMID-Biobank have implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard to guarantee the best quality in all areas developed (obtention, processing, storage and transfer of biological products and associated data for biomedical research).

The objectives of the QMS are aimed at ensuring the correct functioning of the IMID-Biobank, the effectiveness in all established processes, continuous improvement and satisfaction of users, collaborators and future stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of promoting a quality research that translates into an improvement in the quality of life of patients.
In this way, IMID-Biobank’s quality policy focuses on the following principles:
- To maintain, expand and enhance the activity of the IMID-Biobank, for example, through the incorporation and management of new collaborations, new type of biological materials or new immune mediated inflammatory diseases
- To guarantee a service within the applicable legal framework and following the bioethical principles that defend the rights of the donors and regulate the use of biological samples processed and stored in the biobanks with the goal of promoting the use of these samples and promote as a result a high-quality biomedical research in chronic inflammatory diseases mediated by immune mechanisms guaranteeing a return of high value to society.
- To consolidate the good relationship with collaborators and research groups guaranteeing their satisfaction.
- To analyze, in the framework of the management review process, the needs of the IMID-Biobank and its correct operation with the aim of guaranteeing a continuous improvement in the service offered to the users establishing objectives of quality and to assure their confidence through an efficient and effective QMS.
With the goal that all members of the IMID-Biobank are always informed about the Quality policy and can apply and mantain it in all aspects of the organisation, the Management is committed to its dissemination and to guaranteeing the commitment of all members to achieve a high degree of quality at all levels and in all services offered, so that this Policy will be reviewed for its continuous adaptation according to the standard.
